What do we do?

Irco Tours manage shore excursions and overland adventures for the many cruise lines visiting New Zealand ports. Overland programmes are designed for areas between ports that are inaccessible by ship.  Irco Tours is now extending its portfolio to care for groups and independent travellers looking for a locally designed tour programme. Whether clients are arriving on a cruise ship, plane or other means Irco Tours will personally handle arrangements including meet and greet service, transportation, accommodation, sightseeing, cultural excursions and sea/land based activities.

Our Story

Irco Tours was founded by Joanna Irwin who has provided services for visiting cruise lines since 1986. Our main point of difference is in the expertise gained over 29 years in the travel industry. We pride ourselves on providing a unique travel experience working within time constraints, offering a 24/7 service and assuring every enquiry is treated with the utmost attention to detail.

Joanna Irwin - Managing Director

Joanna has had the pleasure of experiencing the many facets of travel since 1979 and has travelled New Zealand extensively.  ​She  has worked with various cruise liners including Holland America, Seabourn, Crystal Cruises, Silversea, Celebrity, Radisson/Regent Cruises, Cunard and Royal Viking. ​Joanna has developed a special rapport with local suppliers who also share her pleasure in presenting the best of our unique country. Being an avid traveller, always planning her next adventure, she can wholly appreciate the most important aspects of creating the most memorable experience. Nothing can take away the satisfaction of seeing a smile on our clients' faces after completing their journey Irco Tours has created.

Frank Simpson is our very highly regarded and gentlemanly "face of the North Island".  He started in the industry in 1979 as a Professional Tour Escort and guide.  You will quickly become fond of seeing him around! He not only has a great rapport with all port staff and local suppliers, but huge experience in all areas of port excursions.

Joy's positive, helpful attitude is one that all travellers love. She has more than two decades of experience in the industry, and is our 'mainstay on the mainland', assisting in the co-ordination of all excursions from the South Island ports.  She will be the friendly face that greets you on the day!
